As well as walking St Gervais has a host of other activities
and sports to entice you to try the summer in the Alps.
The cable cars are open Late June to early Sept to give you
a helping hand up the mountain and a special lift to transport
your mountain bike is also available.
Mountain biking
-This is truly a mountain cyclist’s paradise, with Diamond
Vert circuits covering 5380 mts of downhill cycling and
encorporating 11 different lifts, all for the paltry sum of 11
euros a day irrelevant of how many times you use the
lifts.
White water rafting
-This is a must for all riding down the River
Arve in the company of experienced
guides, you can either just take a 2 hour initiation trip or spend
a whole week trying out different sections of the river.
Golfing
- 2 of the most beautiful courses in the alps are only
25mins drive away – Chamonix and Megeve both courses groomed to
perfection.
Horse riding
- The choice of gentle ponies for small children of full
day hacks with picnics laid on for the more experienced rider,
including evening rides are available.
Zip wiring
- There are numerous aerial parks catering for all ages,
heights and abilities – It’s a type of assault course in the trees
using wires, carbiners, pulleys and ropes. I can speak first hand
and say this is the best fun a grown up can have.
Summer luges -Imagine
sitting on a tea tray travelling pretty fast down a half pipe of
concrete with just a flimsy pully as a brake, again great fun for
all and accessed by a chairlift, there are 2 of these nearby at
Chamonix and Megeve.
